Application Developer

Overall Goal of Position: Sauer Brands are the proud owners of Duke’s Mayonnaise, as well as other customer loved brands such as Kernel Season’s, Spice Hunter, and Mateo’s Salsa.  We are looking to hire an application development resource for our Information Technology department to design and develop application systems at Sauer Brands in support of corporate initiatives.   As a member of the Information Technology team, your goal will be to work collaboratively with our internal business partners to provide effective application solutions that are well designed and tested.    Job Summary:  This position reports to the Enterprise Application Manager.  The role would work collaboratively with the IT Team and our customers in Sauer Brands (Business units, supply chain, transportation, warehousing, sales, finance, and HR) in a cross-functional capacity to provide: Innovative solution proposals using the existing SBI ERP systems, or extensions of the ERP system. Applications that are effective and timely to resolve stated business objectives and process gaps. Solutions that are creative, well tested and documented. Data integration to internal and external systems. Drive opportunities to use systems and technology where needed within the organization. Effective communication of application changes and impacts   Our technology stack is built around a traditional ERP, and is constantly being enhanced with new best of breed capabilities, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure hosting, Logility Demand Planning, Procure-to-Pay automation, and modern Business Analytics on PowerBI. Critical to this role is a desire and willingness to bridge “old and new”.  We will continue to advance the business capabilities by adding modern stacks around our core ERP, PeopleSoft FSCM.  We need someone that can embrace working within limits of older tools at times but always looking for opportunities to modernize and improve.    Performance Standards (the criteria used to evaluate performance): Business Key Performance Indicators Collaborate effectively with business on requirements and design for applications enhancements. Develop, test, rollout, and verify changes to production according to project schedules Produce reliable solutions in a timely manner Review and resolve errors or user reported issues, finding and correcting root cause for issues to prevent future firefighting What you do and how you act Leadership and contribution to overall success of SBI Personal Effectiveness-meeting timelines and productivity requirements (quantity and quality of work) Personal interaction, communication and teamwork with internal and external parties, consistent with OurRecipe@SauerBrand     What We Are Looking For: Demonstrated proficiency in in the following areas: Demonstrated strong ability and comfort learning new technologies. Strong communication skills to work and drive a process with peers as well as both junior and more senior team members. Highly motivated to collaborate and contribute to the effectiveness of the Information Technology Department. Methodical and detail-oriented approach to problem solving and analysis. Work with IT and functional experts to author user process and technical documentation Able to work under pressure and deadlines. Desire to complete tasks on time. Education & Experience 5 years’ experience in application development.  Working with users and developers to document requirements, create and document a solution design, develop, test, and deploy.  Experience in development using procedural languages like PL/SQL or Visual Basic.  The language is not as important as the procedural concepts of sequence, selection and repetition. Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts inherent in languages like Java, VB, C#, PeopleCode. Working knowledge of MS 365 environments, including SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, and Teams Effectively document code Additional Desired Skills PeopleSoft FSCM or other ERP systems development experience. Oracle 19c database tools knowledge Understanding of Data Integration concepts of messaging. Microsoft PowerBI Relational and dimensional data modeling classes or work experience. Systems development classes or work experience. Training in tools or practices around identifying and correcting process or execution issues: Lean, 8 Step, Kaizen, 5s, 4 Whys, Green/Black Belt, SMART goals, Gemba, etc. Other This position is located and based in Richmond, VA   What Is In It For You?
