Production Team Member

General Summary: The role of a Production Team member combines responsibilities in product manufacturing, housekeeping, and service. The primary objective is to produce and package quality material in an efficient manner. Work activities support the needs of Sauereisen customers and colleagues in Sales, Research, and Administration. Description: Production Team members will report directly to the Plant Manager and be responsible for assisting in the production process on multiple levels. This is a hands-on position in an industrial facility and will require basic factory labor ability. Responsibilities include:

A. Manufacturing

1. Gather raw materials based on product formulas.

2. Load mixers in prescribed sequence.

3. Operate various production equipment according to work orders and safe practices.

B. Packaging

1. Fill bags and other product containers.

2. Label and stage finished products for shipment.

C. Housekeeping & Maintenance

1. Maintain cleanliness in the workplace including proper disposal of waste.

2. Clean equipment to prevent contamination or breakdown.

D. Departmental Support

1. Fulfill documentation requirements.

2. Execute accurate inventory procedures.

3. Supply physical labor in maintaining property as needed.

4. Serve on committees for safety and productivity when requested.

5. Additional duties as requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Proficient reading and math comprehension.

· Ability to work well as part of a team.

· Ability to work with limited supervision.

· Skill and initiative in using equipment in the plant including forklifts, scales, mixers, and other production equipment.

· Ability to perform physical labor including lifting 50-75 lb. objects, working with raw materials, and spending the majority of the workday while standing or moving.

· Ability to walk up and down stairs and ladders.

· Other duties as assigned.

Performance Standards: Successful execution of the job will be determined by the following criteria:

1. Extremely punctual with excellent attendance record; ability to limit sick days, be available for overtime if needed, accommodate shift adjustments, and provide advance notice of a week for vacation days.

2. Responsible and professional with a strong work ethic.

3. Consistency of practicing the 5 S’s of Lean Manufacturing: Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain.

4. Ability to multi-task, demonstrating proficiency in a wide range of functions.
