Event Assistant

THIS POSITION 

The SCA is currently recruiting multiple Event Assistants to join our Hospitality Team, for the 2025 season. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about the SCA’s mission and programs and excited to be part of the SCA staff. Each Event Assistant plays a key customer service role, working to create a welcoming environment for guests, performers, volunteers, and other team members. An Event Assistant is a crucial member of our Hospitality Team (and the entire SCA staff) and is motivated, has high customer service skills, works with a sense of urgency, and has a terrific attitude toward growth and community.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING 

The Event Assistant’s focus is to create a welcoming environment for our guests, performers, instructors, volunteers, and other team members. This happens via:

• Setting-up & tearing-down for classes, films, gallery talks, lectures, weddings, and more
• Preparing hospitality requests for Artist / Lecturer / Instructor
• Cleaning up at the end of the event
• Opening/Closing/Securing the facility before and after each event
• Working with the Hospitality and Rental Director to execute rental events including weddings, receptions, and special events year-round (heavy emphasis May – October). 
• Assist at performances and special events as needed
• Wash on-site laundry as needed
• Maintain facility cleanliness before, during, and after events
• Organize kitchen, recyclables, returnables, and garbage
• Lift materials of up to 30 pounds on occasion
• Comfortable on your feet for multiple hours
• Work with the public (guests), performers, vendors, volunteers, and other SCA staff
• Brief volunteers on their duties and emergency protocols

• Must possess exemplary interpersonal skills, and be able to interact with others in a professional manner
• Customer service skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work well with others and be a team player
• Ability to follow written and verbal direction

• Must be 18 or older to apply

DESIRED SKILLS FOR THIS JOB

• Prior event/hospitality experience preferred
• Experience working with volunteers 
• Comfortable serving at the bar when needed
• Comfortable working as a team and independently
• Money handling and retail experience a plus but not required
• Prior experience working with public required

COMMITMENT

This is a part time position. Spring/Summer/Fall: 15-25 hours/week. Evenings and Weekends Required
