The purpose of the Social Worker- Youth Justice is to provide juvenile court intake and ongoing supervision to juveniles alleged or adjudicated delinquent or in need or protection or services and serves as resource coordinator and acts as liaison between the agency, families and providers for the Sauk County Department of Human Services.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Perform duties and responsibilities as defined in Chapter 938 of the Wisconsin Statutes and established court procedures.Develop and implement appropriate case plans based on information from interviews, court and police reports, referrals, therapists reports, court orders, school reports, family, self-reporting and other sources regarding clients and families’ situation.Assess risks and need levels from compiled informationRecommend dispositional terms of supervision, services, counseling, therapy, protective placements and/or alternate care to families and/or the courtProvide supervision and/or case management of deferred prosecution agreements, consent decrees and court orders.Coordinate services with treatment providers, school personnel, law enforcement and the court systems.Provide, plan, develop, implement and/or coordinate recommended services.Testify in court as appropriate.Develop court reports based on risk and needs assessments.Participate in on-call rotation for Sauk County after hour’s on-call system providing support and services for children who have been abused and/or neglected and for juveniles’ alleged delinquent or status offense.Assess immediate safety of child and/or community secures out of home placement to address immediate needs when necessary through voluntary or temporary physical custody measures as is appropriate and consistent with state statutesProvide individual and family counseling regarding services and referrals.Complete a variety of documents which may include, but is not limited to: Risk and needs assessmentsCase plansPermanency plans and reviewsCase reviewsContact and progress notesInitial and family assessmentsLaw enforcement referral intake and assessmentsSafety plansTreatment plansVarious court documentsProvide training to providers, law enforcement and coworkers regarding a variety of Youth Justice Unit.Act as the agency liaison between client and other service providers, schools, law enforcement and other related services.And other duties as assigned.Required Working HoursStandard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. Please note these hours are subject to change and additional hours may be needed or required. Compensation for additional hours beyond normal working hours are subject to applicable state and federal regulations.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field Licenses/Certificates: Valid Wisconsin Driver’s LicenseObtain a Wisconsin State Social Worker License within 6 months of start dateJuvenile Court Intake Worker Certified within 6 months of start date Preferred: 1-2 years of child welfare services experience Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.Sauk County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
