What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Driver position at Sauk County?
Join our team and make a difference in your community as a Driver for our Aging & Disability Resource Center.
The purpose of the Driver is to transport passengers and assist with scheduling of passengers for the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Sauk County’s transportation program and provide clerical support for the transportation program.
**We have 2 open positions.Part-Time - Average 20-30 hours a week with benefits.
LTE - Roughly 15-20 hours a week for 6-12 months with no benefits.
- Operate county-owned vehicles, providing safe and courteous transport of authorized passengers. Passengers include, but are not limited to older adults, adults with disabilities and /or the mobility challenged to and from approved destinations within and outside of Sauk County.
- Provide assistance to passengers boarding and disembarking from vehicle and may operate wheelchair lift.
- Prepare daily trip statistics such as mileage, fees collected, and number of passengers.
- Collect fees from passengers.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles-interior and exterior.
- Complete pre- trip and post-trip vehicle inspection and document inspection findings.
- Contact van drivers to determine a match to a passenger’s appointment time or transportation need.
- Determine the best available service offered to meet a passenger’s transportation need, the appropriate pick-up time for the van to arrive at a passenger’s home and to leave the destination for the return trip.
- Calculate the estimated round-trip, number of miles to be traveled from the van driver’s home and estimate each passenger’s fare.
- Communicate transportation information to passengers to facilitate a successful and enjoyable travel experience. Contact each passenger to provide them with their travel arrangement details.
- Provide clerical support and maintain complete, accurate and timely electronic records of each trip arranged.
- Report maintenance needed & supply needs of vehicles.
- Complete reports.

Required:
High School diploma or equivalent
License:
Valid Wisconsin State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
Preferred:
2 years of experience with interacting with adults aged 60 or older, and/or adults with disabilities
Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
