Description
This position will be supporting our 18 to 21 year old programming called Community-based Employment & Learning (CbEL) and is housed at the Sauk Prairie Community Center. This position would be three hours per day in the morning. The position entails supporting students as they engage in programming that supports their post-secondary education and life skills plans. The position may entail driving a district vehicle to help pick up students or to accompany them to job experiences.

Preference given to candidates with special education assistant experience.
Essential Functions:
1. To assist teacher with 18-21 year old students with disabilities
2. To assist teacher in monitoring/supervising students
3. Physical assistance with students, including lifting as needed
4. Help students (18-21) by supporting personal hygiene and daily living needs
5. Provide outstanding care and comfort
6. Help with transfers and transportation
7. Responsible for accurate vital sign monitoring
Qualifications
1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. DPI Certification as a Special Education Children’s Aide
3. Obtain emergency medical training and other job related certifications as required
4. Prefer experience having worked with individuals with disabilities
5. State Drivers License with the ability to drive school vehicle to transport students as needed
6. Ability to properly handle confidential matters, emergency situations and work in a positive manner with students, staff and the community
7. Very good interpersonal communication skills
8. Self-motivated individual who is able to complete tasks on time
9. General clerical skills and basic computer skills
10. Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
