Description
Bridges Elementary, a 4K-2 elementary school in the Sauk Prairie School District, is seeking a School Counselor. The ideal candidate would be a gifted communicator with excellent organizational skills who has the desire for the important work of supporting elementary students. This position works closely with the principal, teacher, and school social worker to provide social/emotional support and lessons to the approximately 350 students in the school. Candidates must hold or be working to obtain appropriate licensure.
The Bridges Elementary school counselor will be involved in the following:
- Delivering targeted services to students.
- Communication, consultation, and collaboration with students, families, staff and community partners.
- Advocacy and leadership to enable each student to be a healthy and successful learner.
- Adhering to professional standards that are respectful, confidential, individualized, developmentally appropriate, and culturally relevant.
- A commitment to using a trauma-sensitive approach with students.
- Staying current with professional learning to maintain and develop competency reflecting evidence-based best practice
Successful candidates will bring the following qualification, qualities and attributes:
- An understanding of the developmental level of elementary-age students.
- Be able to analyze the classroom environment and find ways for all students to be successful in the least restrictive environment.
- Familiarity with and ability to implement Second Step curriculum.
- Contribute to the (EMLSS) Equitable Multi-Leveled Systems of Support and WIN (What I Need) time by meeting regularly with staff.
- Ability to collaborate with outside agencies to support student mental health.
- Knowledge and experience with social and emotional learning standards.
- Master’s degree in Social Work or School Counseling
- Licensed in the state of Wisconsin as School Counseling (DPI license #7054) or with emergency permit until license requirements are completed
- Knowledgeable of the DPI Social Emotional Learning Standards
- Passion for quality education and student achievement
