The Progress Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring cost control, adherence to project budgets, and strategic planning for field operations. Responsibilities/Competencies
- Lead and mentor the Quantity Surveying team, fostering skill development and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Oversee construction progress measurement systems, leveraging cloud-based progress management software to deliver accurate and timely reports.
- Manage and maintain a project tracking system, ensuring real-time updates on budgets and accommodating scope changes effectively.
- Coordinate with Site Construction, Home Office Engineering, Site Engineering, and Field Personnel to align project objectives and outcomes.
- Develop and implement best practices for tracking project drawings, ensuring accuracy in revisions and progress mark-ups.
- Direct work package development and provide oversight on task allocation to ensure successful project milestones.
- Act as a liaison with Project Controls staff, ensuring that internal and client reports reflect accurate schedule progress and performance metrics.
- Ensure comprehensive development and reporting of IFC Quantities to the Project Controls team.
- Provide expert guidance on estimating and labor analysis, utilizing issued drawings and data to inform budget decisions.
- Conduct regular audits of site construction progress to ensure adherence to standards and quality benchmarks.
- Promote a deep understanding of project scope across teams, enabling effective budget control and swift resolution of deviations.
- 5 years of experience in construction, engineering, or related fields with a proven track record in project leadership.
- A college degree is preferred but not required. Will accept years of experience in lieu of.
- Good computer skills, especially in MS Excel and an ability to easily learn other programs.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and the ability to quickly learn and deploy new software.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in construction progress techniques (e.g., structural steel, piping, electrical systems, concrete installations).
- Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, standards, and their application to project controls.
- Site work, including excavation and underground construction.
- Structural and equipment foundation installation techniques.
- Electrical power and process control systems.
- Pipe tracking by ISO, field welds, shop fabrication, insulation, and testing.
- Basic understanding of construction industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities
- Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, ethical, and a team player willing to grow with the company.
- Able to handle complex project dynamics while fostering a culture of professionalism and growth.
