POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mobility Coordinator, under the supervision of the Transportation Planner will provide technical and administrative support to coordinate the day to day operations of the Regional Tribal Transit program, which includes but are not limited to Rides to Wellness, Non-Emergency Medical Transportation, Vanpool, bike/walk, shuttles and other emerging transportation options for tribal members across the seven-county service area. Act as liaison between programs, departments, tribal staff, membership and Michigan Transportation Connection to process, monitor and track transportation services with a primary focus on access to medical, educational, cultural, employment and social activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
- Receives, collects, monitors, tracks necessary data to accurately process and respond to trip requests for same day, door-to-door services using established processes, documents and scheduling software.
- Works proactively with departments, Michigan Transportation Connection and providers to ensure that transportation occurs in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
- Applies accurate, current knowledge of policies, procedures, regulations and contractual requirements to determine client eligibility for grant, Medicaid or program funded services administered by the Transportation Program.
- Provide referral information and assistance regarding other transportation services.
- Responsible for collecting, entering, tracking request for services and data is complete, accurate, comprehensive and consistent to ensure that reports on ridership, departments, programs usage, billings and payments are accurate and timely.
- Creates portfolios to accurately document eligibility data and service needs using various tools including Microsoft Suite software.
- Draft and distribute marketing, educational and outreach materials such as brochures, schedules, maps and user guides to enhance understanding of mobility options and meet membership, partners and programing needs, provide in-person transit training to clients or groups as needed.
- Updates Regional Tribal Transit website, drafts agendas, minutes, reports, memos and presentations.
- Receives and responds to all trip requests, collecting data to accurately process request
- Confirms all requests and schedules for departments, programs and clients.
- Ensure that transportation occurs in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
- Collect and track data to provide reports.
- Compiles monthly invoices and prepares billing statements.

- Provide assistance with transportation mobility projects and initiatives as needed.
- Adjusts tasks to maintain operational effectiveness.
- All other job-related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position light with lifting of 20 pounds and with frequent lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds. Physical factors include constant sitting, use of hearing, near vision, typing; frequent use of midrange vision; stooping, reaching, bending, manual handling, use of far vision, depth perception, color/field of vision. Working conditions include frequent exposure to noise and occasional exposure to weather, extreme heat/cold, wet/humidity and vibration. Potential hazards include constant computer use.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School diploma or GED required.
Experience: Three years’ experience in office administration or project coordination experience in the business office environment required. One year in scheduling or dispatching experience providing transportation services to the public preferred.
Certification/License: Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the tribal service area required. Knowledge of existing community resources preferred. Knowledge of or ability to learn mobility scheduling software required. Ability to utilize person-centered or client-based approaches to customer service in the effort to research, understand, resolve issues, and respond to the needs of individuals with specialized transportation needs to ensure successful experience by coordinating with tribal departments, programs, transit providers and other agencies across the seven-county service area. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate professionally with clients regardless of any expression of diversity and maintain a positive working relationship with service partners, clients, vendors, volunteers, department, programs, supervisor and fellow staff. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize effectively with a high degree of accuracy, and tolerance for working in a fluid and time-sensitive environment. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must maintain confidentiality. Native American preferred.
