Summer position as a lifeguard for Saunderstown Yacht Club.
Ideal candidate will be able to split lifeguard duties with club maintenance duties such as lawn mowing, cleaning, and small repair projects. Not required, but preferred.
Saunderstown Yacht Club is a small private club situated on the banks of the ‘west passage’ of Narragansett Bay. Founded in 1927 to promote the enjoyment of the resources of our bay, SYC has a strong family and volunteer culture, offering activities for the young and not-so-young.
SYC’s well-known sailing instruction is among the top programs on the Bay and invites club members as well as non-members to participate. Club members enjoy active junior sailing and tennis programs, club sailboat races, single, double, and mixed tennis tournaments, and social events throughout the ebb and flow of the summer months.
The lifeguard reports to the club manager.
The duties are:
- Ensure the safety of everyone on the waterfront by actively monitoring the waterfront and enforcing beach and dock rules
- Perform water rescues and administer first aid or CPR as necessary
- General beach maintenance and cleaning
- Swimming lessons for ages 3 to 8, two times per week, with additional pay.
Requirements:
- Red Cross Lifeguarding / First Aid Certificate
- RI DEM Certification. Non-surf accepted, but Surf is preferred.
- Red Cross or Heart Association CPR and Aid for Lifeguard Certification
- Valid Driver’s license
Details:
- The position is seasonal - approx. June 8 to Labor Day
- Full-time work of 8 hr/day, 5 days/week. Please note that this position may require working weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
- Compensation: $17.00-$20.00 depending on experience
