ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Proof, function fire and target all customer return guns. Function fire and target writer’s guns, trade show guns and special order firearms.
- Assist in troubleshooting customer returns and provide technical assistance with customer calls as needed.
- Perform minor repairs as needed.
- Assist with engineering department testing and maintain accurate logs, records and test results as directed.
- As necessary, assist gunsmiths in the repair and service of customer firearms. Support new product assembly as needed.
- Assist service department with special testing as directed. i.e. potential product liability issues.
- As directed by Engineering or Marketing department qualify new calibers and models.
- Operate chronograph and document ballistic characteristics.
- Maintain 100-yard range and shooting area.
- Mixes and replenishes fluids as required, cleans lead particles, sludge, and gilded metal residues from traps and pump containers on a daily basis. Transfers residue to proper hazardous waste containers for disposal. Keeps trap area floors dry and clean.
- Replaces preliminary and H.E.P.A. type filters as required to insure air quality standards are maintained.
- Disposes of used filters properly.
- Job requires knowledge of and adherence to safety procedures for firearms and ammunition. Job also requires knowledge of and adherence to hazardous waste handling procedures and policies for bullet trap maintenance and disposal of hazardous waste and filters.
- Maintain 100-yard range ammunition inventory.
- Maintains standard level of production output given normal level of production interference. Use prescribed methods to maintain quality standards. Transports and maintains materials and supplies within area as required. Maintains a clear and orderly work area. Clean and oil machines and maintains coolant/lubricant levels as required. Follows specific safety and operating procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be familiar with calibers and have a working knowledge of ballistics and be able to discuss common calibers, bullet weights and typical performance characteristics. Must have previous long distance shooting experience (100 yards competitive shooting preferred) and be able to match sample target group size at 100 yards for various calibers and models. Must be familiar with safety and shooting practices, have previous reloading experience and possess functional knowledge of firearms including assembly and disassembly. May train or instruct others how to perform this job. May perform other related duties as assigned.
