We are opening a vibrant Wine Bar and Cafe located within an Art Gallery in Beacon, NY. By day, we offer a welcoming cafe and wine bar experience. By evening, our space transforms into a theater hosting performances, public fundraising events, and private gatherings. We are seeking a passionate and talented Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and bring a globally inspired, unique culinary vision to life.
The Head Chef will be responsible for the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring exceptional quality and efficiency. This role combines creativity, leadership, and operational management. The ideal candidate will oversee a small but dynamic team, manage menu prep and service schedules, maintain inventory, and ensure BOH compliance with DOH standards.
1. Culinary Leadership
- Design and execute a distinctive menu inspired by world cuisines that complements the Wine Bar and Cafe’s artistic ambiance.
- Maintain consistency in food preparation, plating, and presentation.
- Stay updated on food trends and incorporate them into the menu as appropriate.
2. Operational Oversight
- Plan and manage kitchen prep schedules to ensure smooth service for regular operations, theater events, and private functions.
- Oversee daily BOH operations, ensuring efficiency and a clean, organized kitchen environment.
- Order and manage inventory, maintaining strict control over cost of goods sold (COGS).
3. Team Management
- Hire, train, and supervise kitchen staff, including prep cooks, dishwashers, and food runners.
- Foster a positive team environment, ensuring clear communication and high standards.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to the team.
4. Service Execution
- Act as expediter during service, ensuring timely and accurate plating of dishes.
- Collaborate with FOH staff to ensure seamless communication and exceptional guest experiences.
5. Compliance & Standards
- Maintain all Department of Health (DOH) standards for BOH operations, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
- Implement and enforce proper cleaning schedules and hygiene protocols.
6. Reporting & Collaboration
- Work closely with the Director of Hospitality to align kitchen operations with overall business goals.
- Provide regular updates on kitchen performance, menu success, and team development.
- Proven experience as a Head Chef, Kitchen Manager, or similar role.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a small team.
- Deep knowledge of world cuisines and a passion for creating unique, globally inspired dishes.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in managing inventory and controlling COGS.
- Familiarity with DOH regulations and standards.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Must be able to commute to Beacon, NY.
Salary : $40,000 - $50,000
