What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior 508 Specialist (Part-time or 1099) position at Savan Group?
Role Responsibilities:
- Prepares and tests documents to ensure compliance with Section 508 requirements (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, Excel)
- Review and correct documents for Section 508 compliances.
- Tests web content and online training for compliance with Section 508 and assists in remediation of any issues.
- Prepares DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester reports.
- Uses software tools to identify errors in document structure, headings, reading order, images, charts and tables, and hyperlinks.
- Prepares Section 508 compliant templates for authors to use in document preparation.
- Stays current on Section 508 policy and federal agency accessibility checklists.
- Certified DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester
- 4 years of experience creating and testing documents for compliance with Section 508 requirements (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, Excel)
- 4 years of experience editing, proofing, or copyediting technical information.
- 3 years of testing and assisting in the remediation of web content and online training.
- Current on Section 508 policy and accessibility checklists
- Demonstrated experience providing accurate Section 508 compliant documents.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple ongoing activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively complete individual tasks, work in a team environment, and be proactive with little guidance.
- US citizenship
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience with Articulate 360 and other training software
- Experience with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) programs or other Privacy/information security programs
- Experience training and coaching team members in Section 508 best practices
- Public Trust Clearance or higher
