PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for monitoring and reporting incidents occurring at different locations and for assigning officers for investigations.  Incumbents also monitor the security of the central office.

 

REPORTS TO: Campus Police Office Manager

SALARY SCHEDULE: G-8

WORK DAYS: 250

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education Level: High school diploma 

 Experience, Skill, and Certification: 

 

  • Work experience with various types of office machinery and computer operations
  • Demonstrable ability to understand and follow oral and written communications including by telephone and radio
  • Demonstrable communications skills, including clarity, tact, courtesy and calm during stressful situations
  • Must complete and pass the GCIC required terminal operator certification training within 6 months of employment
  • Must complete and pass communications officer certification
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays

Preferrred:  

  • Experience in police/emergency dispatching
  • GCIC Terminal Operator Certified
  • Communication Officer Certified


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

  1. Maintains alarm log, telephone log, and radio log.
  2. Record and monitor incidents as reported.
  3. Maintains an itinerary of first responders. 
  4. Maintains a criminal report number log.
  5. Monitors and operate alarm computer.
  6. Operates GCIC/NCIC computer.  
  7. Operates fingerprinting equipment and processes reports.
  8. Operates ID carding equipment and makes badges for employees.
  9. Monitors security systems for all SCCPSS facilities.
  10. Work up to 12 hour rotating shift, include nights, weekends and holidays.
  11. Proficient in data entry including Microsoft Products.
  12. The ability to work long hours during disasters and evacuations.
  13. The ability to assess emergency situations and may provide preliminary advice and  guidance.
  14. The ability to work with public and private sectors through the METRO 911 system and private emergency calls.
  15. Work with the public and private sector utilizing the emergency 911 system and telephone communications.
  16. Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  17. Dispatch and provide directions to personnel responding to calls for service.
  18. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization and the safety of employees, students, and visitors.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Incumbents will be considered “at will.”  This position is considered to be “Essential Personnel, Critical Staff” when there is an event that creates security challenges or disruptions to district operations. This position may be required to work during identified periods of an emergency as defined in Policy Regulation GBRB-R, Title: Professional Personnel Time Schedules. Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade 08 as determined by Human Resources and allowable experience.  The work calendar will be 250 days.  This position is Non-Exempt and eligible for the Teachers Retirement System. 

 

Phase 1 Communications Certification Training, 911 and Administrative Call Taking, GCIC, Emergency Medical Dispatch, Fire and Police Certifications, NIMS 100 and 700. The employee receives 3 steps.

 

Phase 2 Upon completion of Communications Radio Operations Training, Basic Communications

Officer Certification and Primary Channel training. The employee will also be required to successfully operate and dispatch from Police, Fire and EMS radio channels. The employee will receive an additional 5 steps.
