PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for criminal analysis duties in support of the Board of Education’s Campus Police department in relation to criminal investigations functions. This position is responsible for performing routine and complex data analysis, generates both standard and ad hoc reports, and designs methods for better understanding and analysis of data.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with emphasis on data mining and analysis
- Experience, Skill, and Certification:
- Three or more years of demonstrated experience gathering data requirements and performing data analysis on student information systems in a large-scale, multi-user environment.
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and design skills and have the abilities to identify data and data model.
- Abilities to identify data and data model inconsistencies and conflicts.
- Ability to examine data and understand inter-relationships and correlations using deductive and inductive reasoning.
- Must be detail-oriented, a team player, and possess excellent organizational and time management skills. Skill in planning, organization, and decision making.
- Experience with spreadsheets, database design/management, and reporting/analysis tools, such as but not limited to Excel, Access, SQL, Business Objects. Ability to use common office machines and popular computer-driven word processing, spreadsheet and file maintenance programs.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills - ability to work well and to get along with a variety of customers and other technical personnel. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills -ability to write comprehensive reports, conduct presentations, training sessions, and meetings.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and theorIes of database systems technology.
- Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and to develop meaningful reports, charts and graphs from them.
- Familiar with school system financial and human resource procedures.
- Skill in developing research designs, data storage strategies, program evaluation techniques and data analysis methods.
- Skill in designing data collection instruments such as surveys.
Preferred:
- Extensive experience working with MS SQL and reporting tools.
- Experience in a K-12 student information systems environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Performs intelligence analysis; aids in clarification of instances with multiple student involvement; assists in the investigation of allegations of criminal incidents per Board of Education policies and departmental procedures.
- Monitor and analyze all instances of criminal activity and juvenile delinquency. Assist in developing crime prevention programs to deter criminal or delinquent activities. Identifies crime patterns.
- Utilizes technical tools to identify patterns and data trends. Prepares charts, illustrations, and narrative reports to identify and explain data pattern and trends. Prepares documents for publication and presentation. Creates support documentation outlining procedures.
- Performs data auditing and validation to ensure accuracy of system data. Provides quality control reports to customers and training team for correction and follow up.
- Performs imports/exports and data conversion from multiple sources/systems for the manipulation of large data sets.
- Ensures issues and/or discrepancies are identified, tracked, reported on, and resolved in a timely manner.
- Creates process maps and diagrams to show workflow.
- Participates in project teams and work with a variety of customers to identify needs and solutions.
- Responsible for preparing, generating, and publishing routine and ad hoc reports/ metrics for the customers as well as conducting training on use.
- Participates in and analyzes information for annual budget requests.
- Participates in special projects, including grant writing. Assists in researching and preparing grant applications for funding; manages administrative paperwork necessary to implement grant; maintain contracts and modifications.
- Maintains documentation on system processes and procedures.
- Collaboration with other departments: Working closely with SRO's, law enforcement officers, Criminal Investigation Unit, Detectives, and other law enforcement agencies to provide necessary records for investigations.
- Gang Data Analysis:
Data Collection and Management: Overseeing the collection and organization of gang-related data in schools, including arrest records, incident reports, and intelligence gathered from various sources.
Trend Analysis: Analyzing gang activity trends to assist law enforcement in understanding gang dynamics, identifying hotspots, and anticipating potential conflicts or criminal activities.
Collaboration with Law Enforcement: Working closely with SROs, gang units, and CIU investigators to provide data- driven insights that support operations and investigations.
15. Social Media Monitoring:
Surveillance and Data Collection: Monitoring social media platforms for criminal activity, threats, or gang-related communications, and ensuring that this data is accurately recorded and securely stored.
Content Analysis: Analyzing social media data to identify patterns, connections, and emerging threats to schools related to gang activity or other criminal behavior.
Reporting and Communication: Compiling reports on findings from social media monitoring, and sharing relevant information with SROs, CIU, law enforcement officers, and other stakeholders to inform decision-making and operational strategies.
16. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Incumbents will be considered “at will.” Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade as determined by Human Resources and allowable experience. This is a 250-day position. (EXEMPT, A-5) Rev. 01-2025
