What are the responsibilities and job description for the Company Driver/ Box Truck position at Savannah Logistics Group LLC?
Summary: Savannah Logistics Group has immediate openings for company drivers (box truck) for our Savannah, GA terminal. Qualified candidates must have class A CDL with at least 2 years tractor/ trailer experience as well as an excellent driving record. This position will be day shift running within the local market, occasionally out of GPA. A twic card and knowledge of the port is a must. We offer great pay depending on experience. Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.
Document hours accurately.
Perform regular safety inspections of equipment in keeping with DOT, company SOP's, and OSHA standards.
Communicate professionally with Fleet Manager.
Follow a schedule of weekly recurring local runs between the warehouse and the customers.
Deliver freight on time.
Inspect trailers before and after loading, paying attention to status of air lines and jack positions and adjusting them as necessary.
Visit weigh stations before and after packing to ensure that loads meet state safety regulations, making alterations to loads when required by law.
Contribute to company data by honestly recording times of delivery and hours worked.
Maintain product quality throughout conveyance.
Always adhere to traffic safety regulations, exercise caution in treacherous circumstances and report unsafe vehicle or road conditions to supervisors and highway authorities.
Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
Keep equipment available for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion.
Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Company Driver does not have supervisory responsibility.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CDL License, Must have at least 2 years experience, must have a TWIC, must have stable work experience and must have a clean driving record.
