The Global Security Directorate at Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to assist in experiments focusing on carbon fiber composite failure analysis including spectroscopic techniques for post-failure assessment.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate positions are fixed term assignments within the company and benefits eligible.

Responsibilities
- Work in a collaborative environment with SRNL staff and university collaborators to produce and mechanically fail carbon fiber composite specimens.
- Analyze specimens using spectroscopic techniques to understand if failure mode can be determined.
- Additional project involvement may include the use of mass spectrometers.
- Ability to communicate scientific results to a broad spectrum of scientific peers and stakeholders.
This position will allow a junior researcher to take the skills they acquired from a fundamental science education and apply them toward national security priorities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD 0-1 yrs
- Individuals must have completed all requirements for their PhD by the start of employment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate level government security clearance for which a US citizenship status is legally required.
- Capabilities with spectroscopic techniques such as Raman Spectroscopy, FT-IR, or Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) highly desired.
- Capabilities with mass spectrometry techniques, liquid chromatography, and/or gas chromatography a plus.
- Ability to communicate scientific results to a broad spectrum of scientific peers and stakeholders.
