What You'll Do in This Position
Support media services operations to resolve very broad to abstract technical issues having division and/or site wide implications. Specific support provided will differ according to assignment, but will generally include directing, planning, developing, implementing, and administering media service related programs. Insure technical aspects of media programs are in compliance with governing directives. Provide immediate level guidance, work direction, oversight, and leadership to a functional work group(s), section or unit in a media services operations or media support capacity.
Major Responsibilities
Responsible planning, directing, and implementing numerous multimedia projects in support of SRNS operations.
Exhibit competency at the highest technical or programmatic level as demonstrated by both personal expertise and the effective direction and leadership of assigned work groups. Generally acknowledged as one of the highest level subject matter experts for the functional area.
Provide guidance to exempt employees and general guidance to nonexempt employees. Assists less senior personnel with more difficult aspects of work. Provide guidance to less senior employees according to established policies and management guidance.
Operate under tight deadlines and may be subject to extreme workloads.
Establish and recommend changes to policies which affect subordinate employees/organizations. Provide centralized control of a program or process that supports operations. Interpret and communicate programmatic, technical or process changes to personnel.
Develop, implement and conduct training for personnel and management impacted by assigned programmatic, technical or support function.
Mentor less senior staff personnel.
Assist the manager in the preparation, forecasting and reporting of organization performance, budgets, manpower requirements, workload distribution and the development of resource requirements.
May be in the position of acting as the primary liaison between two Site organizations, operating in a matrix capacity, and supporting the goals and requirements of both organizations. In this capacity, may have personnel and programmatic responsibilities within each organization concurrently.
Duties may involve activities to resolve contractual issues with subcontractors, the DOE, external auditing agencies, and effected internal customers. May provide relief for or represent the next immediate level of management as subject matter expert in a staff position for the general function or area supported.
Develop and produce various multimedia programs which may include one or more of the following: programming, animation, graphics, audio/visual communications in technical, educational, or promotional information systems depending upon the individual assignment.
Negotiate with vendors to resolve equipment, services, staffing, and technical related issues. Evaluate and analyze equipment, instruments, and procedures needed to upgrade multimedia programs. Evaluate, test, and procure new equipment and instruments in support of assigned programs. Insure resources and engineering strategies meet the highest industry standards. Insure technical aspects of multimedia programs are in compliance with applicable standards and DOE Orders.
Develop operating procedures and training programs to train less qualified specialists on various types of equipment, instruments, and techniques. Draft technical specifications for the outsourcing projects, evaluate prospective vendor responses and manage outsourcing of projects.
Security Clearance Information
SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Proven experience in determining multimedia program requirements to meet informational, promotional, and educational needs.
Specialized knowledge and skills in design, communications, education, computer programming, interactive systems, training, photography, television production, and audio engineering depending upon the specific assignment. Additional specialized knowledge requirements vary with the particular assignment.
