From configuring hardware and resolving complex software issues to providing white-glove service both remotely and onsite, your impact will be felt across the organization. You’ll also contribute to larger IT initiatives, M&A integrations, and AV support, gaining exposure beyond day-to-day help desk tasks.

The IT Specialist I will contribute to the success of the company by ensuring that IT resources are functioning properly and being maximized by end-users. This position provides technical expertise, guidance, and support to users both in-person and remote. Identify, research, and resolve technical problems with PCs, laptops, and network connections. Responds to service requests submitted via problem-tracking software, telephone calls, email, voicemail, and verbal requests. Responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the Microsoft Windows desktop and notebook computers, mobile devices, peripherals and will work closely with other members of the technology department to support all end users. The IT Specialist I will also contribute as needed to the maintenance and support of the server related hardware, software, and networking systems.

The Information Technology Specialist I can expect to focus in the following areas:

  • Configure, install, and setup PCs and laptops (hardware, operating system, network connection, and appropriate software)
  • Provide hardware technical support for PC, laptop, and network users (troubleshooting, client system maintenance, training, etc.)
  • Provide software technical support (loading software, assisting with applications, email, troubleshooting, training, antivirus, security updates and patches, etc.)
  • Install/relocate hardware, configure, and maintain computer systems, desktop setups, software and peripheral devices
  • Assist with maintaining hardware inventory information in the asset management software. Including inventory, asset destruction and disposal and prepping for recycling
  • Assist with and provide technical expertise overall audio/visual (AV) equipment and conference room setup
  • Assist with M&A acquisition cut overs and travel on occasion to remote sites for hardware setup and migration of new employees. Travel may be required or on as needed basis
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users via phone, email, or in person
  • Diagnose and resolve software, hardware and network-related issues promptly and effectively
  • Escalate complex issue to appropriate IT support staff and follow up on problem resolution
  • Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure timely resolution and maintain accurate records of support requests and solutions
  • Configure, deploy, support mobile devices and maintain mobile device management software
  • Monitor the help desk and provide solutions to support requests and tickets
  • Perform user and computer moves, adds, and changes in various systems (Active Directory, Azure, web portals and admin consoles, etc.)
  • Write and maintain detailed system documentation and procedures. Prepare training materials as required
  • Create and maintain detailed system configuration and procedural documentation
  • Maintain a high level of technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading and researching technical publications and online training
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the IT team by assisting with various projects and filling in for others as needed
  • Ability to work non-standard business hours (evenings/weekends) on occasion
  • Work on special projects when not performing other Technical Support duties and as time permits.
  • Perform projects and tasks as directed by the IT Supervisor. Perform other duties as required by supervisor/manager

A couple things to note about our IT Specialist I position:

  • This position is a full time in person position based in our Headquarters in Rockford, IL office
  • You can expect to work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. On occasion there will be weekends and holidays.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

The IT Specialist I position typically requires the following qualifications:

Education

  • Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred, in information technology, computer science or related field from an accredited school
  • Relevant industry certifications are preferred. (MS, Cisco, Network or CompTIA A )

Experience

  • 1 - 2 years proven success in a similar role

Preferred Qualifications

These Preferred Qualifications are “nice to have” but are not essential to carrying out the day-to-day functions of the job.

  • Associate degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, in information technology, computer science or related field from an accredited school
  • 2-3 years of experience in the Information Technology field
  • Help Desk, desktop and network support experience
  • Experience with rebuilding a PC with regard to reloading an operating system, reloading appropriate software, and reloading data files
  • Ability to troubleshoot, solve technical and applications problems
  • Experience with or industry certification; Microsoft Windows Server, Operating systems, Software troubleshooting, CCNA, iOS, Windows, Microsoft Office, Firewall, Computer hardware, CompTIA Network , Computer networking, Communication skills, CompTIA A

The expected base salary range for this role nationally is $22.55 - $30 per hour. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, job-related skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions.
