Purpose
Drives profitable Save A Lot, Retail Partner, and Wholesale Customer sales through the procurement of incremental items and events. Facilitates product procurement and sales with Save A Lot merchandising teams and Supply Chain teams to support incremental profitable sales. Develop and maintain positive relationships with Retail Partners and Wholesale Customers to create sales opportunities. Independently handles complex issues to create appropriate solutions. Manages results to achieve performance indicators.
Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of incremental opportunities: identifying opportunities, negotiating programs with vendors, selling programs to Retail Partners/Wholesalers, purchasing of product, managing financial aspects of programs, including margins for SAL & customers, and minimizing shrink
Builds and maintain external relationships with the vendor community
Develops and maintains relationships with Retail Partner ownership groups and wholesale customers, throughout the company, building trust and integrity
Influences Retail Partner and wholesale customers to participate or increase participation in programs relative to opportunities identified on a regular basis
Acts as primary contact for closeout and wholesale vendors
Works closely with Supply Chain team. Communicates category and promotional plans to deliver desired service levels
Works with Merchandising team to coordinate the procurement of relevant local or regional items while gaining true incremental sales
Maintains formal and informal channels of upward communication; encourage the expression of new ideas, suggestions, and feedback; review them for appropriateness and further action
Eliminates excessive and at-risk inventory
Performs other duties as assigned
About You
Experience in building, sourcing, and selling incremental sales/margin building programs in the grocery industry
Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or related field and/or 3-5 years of relevant retail experience
Possesses field or relevant business experience where a solid understanding of marketing, merchandising, Consumer research and financial management practices have been gained
Financial, mathematical, statistical, marketing, merchandising, and consumer research background to read, interpret, and understand how internal and external factors influence financial results
Ability to read and interpret profit and loss statement and understand how the categories managed are impacted
Possesses strong analytical and problems solving skills and be experienced in taking initiative and making decisive yet appropriate decisions
Strong planning and organizing skills
Written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective business relationships within and outside the company
Familiarity with Category Business Planning
Familiarity with procurement, logistics, and inventory management
Familiarity with relevant programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Internet)
Physical Requirements
Some travel required depending on role which may include weekends and evenings, as needed
Required to tour retail stores and may spend long periods of time standing or walking
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
Salary : $115,000 - $140,000
