Purpose
The Retail Training Specialist is dedicated to enhancing the expertise and performance of Save A Lot retail store Team Members through dynamic, comprehensive training strategies. The Retail Training Specialist will concentrate on providing training in retail operations, equipping store teams with the skills and tools needed to excel. This role plays a pivotal part in cultivating a culture of continuous learning and growth, empowering every Team Member to deliver exceptional customer experiences. By designing and delivering innovative training programs, the Retail Training Specialist strengthens operational proficiency, prioritizes safety and compliance, and champions service excellence—driving success across Save A Lot retail locations. Through a collaborative and consultative approach, the Retail Training Specialist partners with People Leaders, Retail Partners, and Corporate Stores to align training initiatives with strategic business objectives.
Responsibilities
Collaborate on the creation of retail operations training materials, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Training Guides, Quick Reference Guides (QRGs), Policies, and other training resources
Develop and execute training programs focused on enhancing customer service skills, operational expertise, and adherence to company policies
Conduct Training Needs Analysis and gather feedback from the Field Team, Retail Partners, and Talent Development leadership to identify training needs
Design and implement comprehensive retail training plans tailored to address identified needs and support retail business objectives
Support the delivery of training through diverse methodologies, such as e-learning, in-person workshops, and one-on-one coaching, to maximize engagement and impact
Provide ongoing coaching and support to Store Managers, District Managers, and Field Team Leadership to reinforce skills and improve performance
Facilitate dynamic, interactive training sessions to enhance learning and retention
Help maintain and curate an up-to-date library of training materials and resources with accessibility and consistency for Store Team Members
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to support company-wide training efforts and initiatives
Partner with the Director of Talent Development to implement quality assurance measures to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery across retail locations
Assess training effectiveness using performance metrics, evaluations, and feedback, refining future initiatives based on insights
Stay current on emerging training methods and technologies, integrating innovative approaches into programs as appropriate
Monitor customer service performance and sales trends to pinpoint areas for skill development and operational improvement
Partner with Retail Operations to align training initiatives with strategic business goals and priorities
Serve as a subject matter expert within the HR team, contributing to a ‘Center of Excellence’ in training
Manages training projects as assigned through fruition
Travels as needed to obtain feedback and test SOPs to gain an understanding or find improvement areas
Continuously improves self to meet the growing needs of the business
Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity to all HR related matters and information
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership to advance talent development and team engagement objectives.
About You
Retail Operations Experience and/or Learning & Organizational Development experience is required
1-3 years of in-store Training experience
Prefer certification in the facilitation of training, ATD Certification or SHRM Certification and an understanding of Adult Learning Styles
Ability to work with MS Office applications
Budget / cost management experience
Must have strong project planning and execution skills
Ability to utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills and to effectively interface with personnel (at all levels) effectively
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel up to ~25% of the time, which may include weekends and evenings, as needed
Ability to work weekends or evenings up to ~10% of the time, as needed
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
