Save-a-lot in Lexington is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Produce Associate to join our team at a busy grocery store. This role is responsible for maintaining the freshness and appearance of our produce section, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring that all products are properly stocked and displayed. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fresh produce and be committed to delivering exceptional results.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and stock produce shipments in a timely and organized manner, ensuring that all products are properly stored and maintained.
- Maintain a clean and visually appealing produce section, including rotating produce, cleaning displays, and ensuring that all floors and surfaces are clean and free of debris.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and making recommendations on fresh produce.
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently, handling cash and credit transactions.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate with management when items need to be reordered or removed from stock.
- Assist with the packaging and shipping of produce as needed.
- Keep up-to-date with current inventory levels, sales trends, and customer preferences to make informed decisions about product placement and promotions.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge about the produce department and be able to answer customer questions about the origin, quality, and nutritional value of various fruits and vegetables.
Experience:
- Prior experience working in a grocery store or similar retail environment is essential.
- Experience with produce or similar products is preferred.
- The ability to lift and move heavy objects, as well as stand for long periods of time, is required.
- Experience with retail math and sales is desirable.
Skills:
- Excellent organizational skills to maintain a clean and organized produce section.
- Strong knowledge of produce and the ability to answer customer questions.
- Proven sales skills to promote fresh produce to customers.
- Ability to stock and maintain a high volume of inventory.
- Experience with shipping and receiving procedures.
- Proficiency in package and shipping tasks.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.50 - $17.50 per hour
