Purpose
Through the direction of Distribution Leadership, the DC Training & Safety Lead acts as front-line floor leader, responsible for covering and observing the completion of various warehouse trainings, inclusive of any necessary duties to ensure training of new hires and any Team Member in need of training. It is the responsibility of the Training & Safety Lead to ensure Training Plan tasks are completed accurately. The Training Lead promotes positive Team Member relations and ensures proper implementation of company rules and policies. The Training Lead will drive all training operations in a safe manner consistent with training objectives.
Responsibilities
Lead DC Floor training, from Day one, through progression, until completion, with the support of other Team Members
Support New Hire orientation
Function as the Safety Lead within the DC, ensuring all Team Members are trained on safety policies and procedures and will support all safety initiatives directed by the EHS Director
Interact daily with new Team Members to ensure they receive proper safety and role specific training
Communicate with all DC Team Members regarding monthly safety trainings and ensure completion each month
Ensure all New Hire Training is complete, including Training Plans are followed, sign-off on various training milestones, and monitor training completion in Learning Cart, with the support of the Talent Development team
Perform the operational duties of training to include but not limited to, PIT Training, Lifting Safely, VoCollect Training, Emergency Procedures Training, LOTO, and Safe Practices
Ensure all new Team Members follow safety policies and procedures during training
Collaborate with Team Members, Supervisors and Managers to identify gaps in training and develop solutions, including but not limited to providing recommendations to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Counsel new Team Members in work-related activities, personal growth, or career development
Assess training needs of all DC Team Members and arrange for or provide appropriate instruction
Schedule and instruct new Team Members on SOP processes and expectations
Provide direction to “support trainers” based on the needs of the DC
Performing Safety Observations on an “as needed” basis
Support DC production needs when necessary, as directed by DC management
About You
Minimum 1 year of previous experience in food distribution production environment preferred
Previous experience in training and DC safety is preferred
Ability to flex between shifts to support training initiatives
Proven adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Safety
Knowledgeable and current on operational duties of a DC to include but not limited to, PIT Training, Lifting Safely, VoCollect Training, Emergency Procedures Training, LOTO, and Safe Practices strongly preferred
Ability to adjust communication approach based on the context, audience, and subject matter
Strong attention to detail ensuring that procedures are followed accurately and safely
Basic computer skills required and knowledge of Microsoft tools
Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-task environment
Good organizational and time management skills; with ability to manage multiple projects
Bilingualism is desired in some DC locations, having proficiency in Spanish is preferred
Physical Requirements
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
Must be able to stand, bend, walk, kneel, squat, turn, reach, pull, push, and lift up to 85 pounds, in a fast-paced environment for extended period of time
Must be able to stand and balance throughout the shift while operating industrial equipment
Regularly works in freezers, coolers and refrigerators in temperatures as low as -15 degrees Fahrenheit
