The Organization: SAVE’s mission is to strengthen every individual and family we serve with the knowledge and support needed to break the cycle of domestic violence and build healthier lives. In pursuit of this mission, SAVE provides a comprehensive range of direct services to people experiencing domestic violence from immediate crisis intervention to long-term supportive services.

The Director of Operations will oversee the day-to-day functions and provide leadership, management and support to all aspects of SAVE’s services and operations. This role is integral in advancing our mission to provide support, shelter, and resources to individuals and families affected by intimate partner violence and homelessness.

 

The Director of Operations will ensure the seamless implementation of programs, administrative systems, and facility management to create a safe and empowering environment for those we serve. The Director of Operations provides leadership, oversight and long-range planning to ensure that all areas are operating at the highest standard possible.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

A. Operations Management: 

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency and alignment with SAVE’s mission and goals.
  • Manage facilities, including the shelter and administrative offices, ensuring safe and effective operation.
  • Implement and monitor policies, procedures, and workflows that ensure compliance.
  • Ensure that technology resources, including internet, phone, vehicles, and related equipment are maintained    and available for agency use.
  • Monitor the availability of office supplies, mail, and agency vehicles.
  • Review expenditure requests and provide training to staff on documentation requirements.
  • Compile documentation of financial expenses to assist the Finance team with monthly reconciliation and       claims processes.
  • Review and monitor employee timesheets, as applicable.
  • At times, prepare materials and represent the agency on behalf of the executive director and administrative team. 
  • Assist in administrative team projects as assigned. 

B. Program Support and Development:

  • Collaborate with program managers to ensure that client services, including case management, counseling, and housing assistance, are effectively delivered.
  • Evaluate and optimize program processes to enhance client outcomes and operational sustainability.
  • Provide operational support for grant-funded initiatives, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.

C. Human Resources and Team Leadership:

  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and retention of staff to maintain a skilled and motivated team. 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and trauma-informed care among staff and volunteers. 
  • Ensure adherence to workplace policies, including safety and confidentiality protocols.

D. Budget and Financial Oversight:

  • Partner with the Executive Director and Finance team to develop and manage operational budgets. 
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility and adherence to grant requirements. 
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.

E. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as a liaison between SAVE’s internal teams, external partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Support fundraising and donor engagement efforts by providing operational insights and program data.
  • Represent SAVE in Board meetings, community meetings, coalitions, and partnerships.

F. Risk and Crisis Management:

  • Lead efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for clients, staff, and volunteers.
  • Develop and execute crisis management plans in coordination with leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, including confidentiality and mandated reporting requirements.

G. Exhibit Teamwork by Supporting Policies, Procedures, and Participation in Staff Activities

  • Maintain knowledge of SAVE policies, procedures, and software.
  • Participate in SAVE staff meetings including all staff, leadership team meetings, business team, board meetings and external stakeholder meetings as needed.
  • Complete SAVE-related forms and activities such as timesheets/activity reporting, leave requests, and travel forms, including travel authorizations, expense reports and documentation within the timeframes set in procedures.
  • Provide staff support at SAVE sponsored events, such as the Evening of Empowerment Gala and other public-facing events.
  • ·Perform other tasks and duties as identified by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Nonprofit Management, Social Services, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred); 
  • At least 5 years of experience in nonprofit operations, program management, or a similar leadership role, preferably in a domestic violence or homelessness-focused organization.
  • Proven ability to manage facilities, budgets, and compliance requirements effectively.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with a commitment to trauma-informed and culturally competent practices.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with grant management and reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and desire to communicate with staff, volunteers, and other members of the public in a consistently professional and educational manner;
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills, ability to prioritize and excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a deadline driven environment;
  • Knowledge of county, state, city, and federal laws and regulations relating to agency operations.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
