What are the responsibilities and job description for the Canine Care Team Member position at Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center?
As a Canine Care Team member, you will have the opportunity to provide compassionate care for the animals in Douglas County, bring pets and families together, and perform purpose driven work that is heartwarming and satisfying.
This position isn't for everyone, we are looking for someone who is ready to roll up their sleeves and get dirty. It can be loud, smelly and at times stressful. Experience with animal medical care a plus but not required. - Clean and disinfect all kennel and cage areas, exam areas, showing areas and other animal care areas according to procedures. Maintain cleanliness standards throughout the day.
- Feed, water, medicate, vaccinate and exercise animals as required for pet’s well being.
- Wash dishes, perform laundry tasks, restock animal areas with supplies, and perform other activities involved with the keeping of animals.
- Assist in maintaining the accuracy of animal identification records in the animal care areas. Responsible for kennel cards on all kennels at all times.
- Assist in the adoption process by showing the animal, discussing adoption concerns, reviewing the pet’s history and explaining the adoption procedures.
- Assist in behavior evaluations of animals
- Assist in daily playgroup with the shelter dogs
- Monitor and report any animal health or behavioral concerns to supervisor.
- If authorized to drive Saving Grace vehicles, may be required to take/pick up dead or live animals at vet clinics, residences or other places to be determined.
- Responsible for assisting the public throughout the shelter and on the phone by answering questions about the adoption or redemption process.
- Assist in maintaining the order and cleanliness of the shelter facility and grounds. Duties include dusting, cleaning bathrooms, mopping, washing windows, etc. May assist with recycling of paper, glass, plastics and metals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the kennel manager, center supervisor (as defined in the Chain of Command) or center director.
