Job Summary
The Director of Music Ministry (DMM) is responsible for developing a vibrant, grace-filled music ministry at Savoy United Methodist Church. Responsibilities include planning worship music in consultation with the senior pastor, recruiting and developing musical talent within Savoy UMC and the Champaign-Urbana community to grow the Savoy UMC musical worship team, weekly evening rehearsals, and participation in Sunday morning worship. This is part-time hourly position, 6 - 10 hours per week, at an hourly range of $25-30/hour.
Responsibilities
A. Meet regularly with the senior pastor to plan and discuss the Sunday services and future worship series planning.
B. Lead all aspects of planning and delivery of the Sunday morning worship service using music to connect with God and compliment the weekly message.
C. Organize and lead musical practices in preparation for worship services or special events
D. Develop and coordinate teams of instrumentalists, vocalists, audio/visual techs, and camera operators.
E. Work with the media team to recruit and develop new team members for the worship, audio/visual, and camera teams.
F. Develop musical activities and events aimed at youth and young adults.
Requirements
- A professed faith in Jesus Christ
- Must have keyboard or piano capability.
- Ability to work with both traditional and contemporary Christian music and to read sheet music.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- High school degree or equivalent
