Position Overview
Leading architecture and interior design firm is seeking Design Associate with conceptual expertise and proven leadership success to join their New York office. As an Associate - Design you will play a key role in advancing design solutions, generating new ideas for both projects and for the systems, while maintaining enthusiasm about achieving clients’ business goals through our design. Your leadership will help guide our team, clients and partners in winning and executing projects from concept through to completion by providing the direction necessary to execute project objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
- To provide design leadership on projects, setting the direction for the client and project team while being responsible for overall quality of team members deliverables
- To set direction and tell the story of the design
- To work closely with clients to ensure their concerns are being heard and they feel the "level of care" that we aspire to give them.
- To be a strong example of leadership to the younger design team and mentoring them on how to lead a client through the various stages of design and decision making in a smooth and enjoyable manner.
- Prepare, deliver and win design presentation opportunities for new medium- large sized projects on a consistent basis
- Lead concept design and storytelling with a cross disciplinary team to define new experiences and opportunities for our clients
- Brainstorm with in-house strategic planners to consider new solutions that address cultural opportunities in each project and redefine our understanding of every day paradigms
- Establish and maintain a high level of trust between the project team, client and other project stakeholders
- Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors to share design and construction expertise in order to create inventive, well-crafted environments
- Perform additional responsibilities necessary to help achieve business and / or project goals
- Actively participate in industry activities to represent the firm and network for future opportunities for the firm.
- Active participation in project bidding and winning stages.

Qualifications & Key Competencies
Salary range $125K – $135K US based on experience.
