The Company
enGene (NASDAQ : ENGN) is a late-stage biotechnology company mainstreaming genetic medicines through the delivery of therapeutics to mucosal tissues and other organs, whose lead product candidate, detalimogene voraplasmid, is being evaluated in an ongoing pivotal study for patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) with carcinoma in situ (Cis) who are unresponsive to BCG. Role
The Associate Director / Director of Corporate Development will be a key member of enGene’s corporate strategy team and will report to the Chief Strategy & Operating Officer. The successful candidate will be a results-driven, hands-on individual with corporate strategy and business development experience in biotech and / or pharma. The Associate Director / Director will wear many hats and should have the capacity to drive numerous complex and cross-functional projects forward simultaneously. This role requires a blend of business acumen, strategic thinking, communication skills, and relationship-building skills to excel.
Responsibilities
- Act as strategic thought partner to C-suite in the creation, refinement, articulation, and execution of enGene’s business and science strategy.
- Develop in-depth understanding of competitive landscape and partner in development of internal and external communications.
- Maintain an updated database of market and competitor insights, tracking developments within therapeutic areas and informing leadership of impactful industry events.
- Regularly report findings and insights to the Chief Strategy Officer, enabling proactive responses to market shifts and competitive threats.
- Support research and development strategy and portfolio prioritization efforts; align / plan resources appropriately.
- Prepare critical presentation materials; translate complex data into clear, compelling visuals and narratives that support strategic recommendations and decisions.
- Represent the company at industry events, networking with peers and staying informed on sector advancements to support competitive positioning and partnership prospects.
- Support corporate development projects, including due diligence, financial modeling, and feasibility analyses for potential M&A, partnership, and licensing opportunities.
- Source new opportunities that are consistent with the company’s scientific and business objectives.
- Collaborate with enGene’s Chief Strategy and Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer to help define areas of potential business development interest and, when appropriate, develop and execute partnerships for those areas.
- Assess potential opportunities by analyzing market trends, financial reports, and pipeline market potential of biotech companies. Support the complex financial models to evaluate potential acquisition targets and / or in-licensing opportunities.
