Senior Director for Project Management
We are seeking a Senior Director of Project Management for Johns Hopkins University's Project Management Office who will focus on leading, managing, and executing projects for the Finance & Administration Division and the broader university. The Senior Director of Project Management serves both as a strong leader and manager of individual projects and of the staff in the Project Management Office, ensuring that all assigned projects successfully meet institutional goals, deliver impactful results, and drive excellence.
Responsibilities
The Senior Director of Project Management serves as an operational and strategic leader of the Project Management Office, with the following key responsibilities :
- Overseeing and developing the individual project managers.
- Managing resource distribution and allocation across the project management portfolio.
- Helping to define the scope of each project at the point of initiation including goals, timelines, budgets, and objectives.
- Tracking, communicating, and reporting on project status to senior leaders.
- Auditing project deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
- Setting standards for project management practices.
The Senior Director of Project Management also develops and maintains a standardized project management methodology and approach to the full project lifecycle. This methodology includes standard deliverable templates, procedure documents, and training materials and focuses on common project management topics like status reporting, project initiation procedures, roles and responsibilities, milestone tracking, and budget management. The Senior Director of Project Management shares and provides training on this methodology with leaders across the institution to ensure appropriate and consistent project management practices are followed even on projects outside the purview of the Project Management Office.
Additionally, the Senior Director of Project Management leads the design and implementation of individual projects as appropriate. To support this work, the Senior Director of Project Management may work as a project manager on certain high-profile initiatives.

Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines : JHU Equivalency Formula : 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education / experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
