What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at Savvy Staffing?
SUMMARY: The Quality Control Final Inspector is responsible for routinely monitoring the production line and conducting a final inspection of all products and packaging to ensure quality standards are met and performing additional testing as needed to determine a root cause for parts that do not meet the standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform First Piece testing at start-up and approve as required.
Visually inspect products for any aesthetic type defects (i.e.: flash, string, shorts, missing pawls, sinks, contamination, color, etc.) and notify the Shift Supervisor or Mold Tech of any abnormalities detected.
Conduct routine testing of materials, including Tensile strength and mechanical properties.
Perform tests to ensure the products durability, environmental resistance (UV, temperature, etc.), and functionality (e.g., cable tie locking mechanism).
Perform daily moisture evaluation of raw material Gaylord, Dryer and re-grind.
Physically test products for any functional type of defects (i.e., slipping, hard insertions, flexibility/brittleness, etc.) and notify the Shift Supervisor or Mold Tech. of any abnormalities detected.
Visually check packaged product (both bag and box) for aesthetic type defects, quality/position of the bag seal, and correct bag/box counts and notify the Shift Supervisor or Mold Tech and Quality Control Manager of any abnormalities detected.
Check sealed cartons for date coding, correct label and placement, carton seals and carton weights.
Verify water dispensers and scales are calibrated and correct piece counts are in bags and notify the Shift Supervisor or Mold Tech of any issues identified.
Conduct start-up and in-process tensile testing of molded product per documented Procedures, Work Instructions, Sampling Plans and Specifications. Determine the acceptability of the product based on the inspections and tests performed.
Identify any substandard product as non-conforming, segregate the non-conforming product from acceptable production, then notify the Quality Lead and report the non-conformance to the Shift Supervisor or Mold Tech, so corrective action can be taken.
Complete Daily Final Inspection, test records and logs as required.
Review/communication all shift activity with the on-coming shift.
Work with, and under the direction of, the Quality Assurance Manager in conducting inspections to satisfy daily priorities for Production, Sales, Purchasing and Shipping/Warehouse departments.
Process inventory transactions on finished product in IQMS.
Corrects and/or reports any safety concerns or issues.
Perform workstation process audits as assigned.
Quality is everyones responsibility.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must be able to implement and monitor directives assigned by the Director of Quality and/or Quality Assurance Manager.
Must be able to understand and work from verbal and or written instructions.
Must be able to fluently read, write and speak the English language and understand/work with basic math functions and counting.
Solid computer skills and experience in MS Office Suite and ERP systems (IQMS preferred).
Must be able to routinely lift and stack materials up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is typical of clean manufacturing, using robotic systems. At times, the work environment is that of a working warehouse, due to the use of material handling equipment. The noise level is consistent with system alarms and overhead announcements. Occasional smell of and/or smoke from hot plastic. Must be able to bend, lift and stack materials up to 50 pounds. Work is usually performed while walking and standing for extended periods of time with brief periods of sitting. May require stooping, kneeling and crouching for short periods of time. Finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform various inspections and testing. Work requires 20/20 vision (with or without corrective lenses).
