Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part Time Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for pets. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our facility, ensuring that all animals receive the highest level of care and attention.

Being a newly established Boarding and Daycare facility, the Part Time Kennel Assistant position has a limited hours available at the moment, however there will be room for growth within the business as we grow. We are currently looking for availability to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday), 2-3 shifts every other week, and holidays as needed. We are looking for someone that is able to work alone with 10-15 dogs at a time. Training is available but we are needing this position to be filled with someone that has had kennel experience and experience working alone.

Duties

• Providing a safe environment while socializing and playing with dogs in playgroups
• Administering medication as needed
• Cleaning kennels
• Dishes, sanitizing
• Loads of laundry
• Cleaning and maintaining facility
• Answering phones/emails
• Payment processing
• Loading medical records, pictures and notes to records
• Able to work companies Facebook during shift - adding pictures and a caption.
• Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising pets.
• Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to management or veterinary staff.
• Support dog training sessions and help reinforce positive behaviors.
• Engage with pet owners, providing excellent customer service and addressing any questions or concerns.
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills in animal care.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Kennel boarding/daycare settings, animal care, or kennels.
• Strong skills in animal handling.
• Must be personable and compassionate with excellent communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
• Must be physically capable of lifting animals and performing tasks that require standing for extended periods.
• Ability to schedule appointments with high attention to detail
• Ability to take direction
• Ability to handle money accurately and honestly
• Must possess sound decision-making skills and multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment
• Candidates should have open availability. Schedule includes morning and evening shifts, weekend shifts and holidays.
• A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being is essential.
