About the Role: The Telecommunications Specialist will be responsible for performing daily telecom operations on a full-time basis. Key responsibilities include handling moves, adds, changes, daily maintenance, repairs, new installations, testing, and ensuring the continued functionality of voice communications systems. The specialist will be expected to attend meetings and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to maintain the highest standards of telecommunications services. Tasks will be assigned through PMO direction and/or the DLA J6 Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) ticketing system.

About the Role: The Telecommunications Specialist will be responsible for performing daily telecom operations on a full-time basis. Key responsibilities include handling moves, adds, changes, daily maintenance, repairs, new installations, testing, and ensuring the continued functionality of voice communications systems. The specialist will be expected to attend meetings and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to maintain the highest standards of telecommunications services. Additional Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Assist with ongoing phone system relocations, including the installation of phone lines. Collaborate with Voice Services and Network teams to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring the proper operation of ISDN, Analog, and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) endpoints and phones.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve a variety of telephone hardware and software issues (e.g., no dial tone, static, misdirected or redirected calls). Install ISDN, Analog, and VoIP conference phones and related peripheral equipment as needed.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and document telecommunications circuits, including:
- Transport connections: SDH, SONET, WDM, OTN, MPLS, PDH, DSL, fiber, and copper cables.
- Ethernet connections: Ethernet over microwave/MPLS/SDH/SONET, GPON, and carrier.
- Data connections: MPLS, IP, DCN, ATM, and frame relay connections.
- Voice connections: Customer voice connections, signal links, voice routes, core and access links, voice links to Public Address (PA) systems for mass notifications, and interconnects with other telecommunications providers.
- Video circuits: Including Cable Television (CATV), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Video Teleconferencing (VTC), HD, composite, and component formats.
- Deliver IT and telecom equipment to various customer locations and remove endpoint or IT equipment for return to the warehouse.
- Provide logistical support to Infrastructure and Customer Support teams using ServiceNow software to receive, resolve, and close incidents, tasks, and work orders.
- Perform the configuration, modification, troubleshooting, and deletion of VoIP hard phones, softphones, and Extension Mobility profiles. Assist users with softphone application connections and modify voicemail profiles, including phone number updates, speed dial adjustments, and line behavior configurations (e.g., ring behavior) on devices connected to Cisco Unified Communications Manager or using Provisioning Tools.
- Provide inventory updates and status changes to the Information Technology Asset Management System (ITAMS) team as necessary.
- Ensure VoIP device changes are reflected in the Telephone Management System (TMS) or local database.
- Support both local and enterprise-level Voice Services projects and assist in resolving Enterprise Voice Services tickets within the ticketing system.
- Complete an Incident Reports for each failure of Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE) or software.
- Attend working group meetings, as required
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
- Minimum Seven (7) years of progressive IT experience
- Experience with at least five (5) network and telecommunications service projects with at least one occurring in the past three (3) years.
- PMP strongly desired
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license to operate within their designated coverage area
- Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
