Sawgrass CC is seeking a skilled and reliable technician with strong electrical and plumbing expertise to join our facilities team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with a proactive mindset, capable of troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of maintenance issues in a timely and safe manner. HVAC experience is strongly preferred, as this position supports critical systems throughout the property.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs on all electrical systems, including lighting, outlets, panels, and circuits
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing systems such as water supply lines, drainage, fixtures, and pumps
- Provide support in HVAC-related tasks, including system checks, filter changes, and diagnostics (if qualified)
- Ensure all work is performed according to safety standards and local building codes
- Conduct routine inspections of systems and infrastructure to identify potential issues before they escalate
- Operate power tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery safely and efficiently
- Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and materials, and report when restocking is necessary
- Assist with seasonal preparations, special projects, and other building-related duties as needed
- Document all work performed, noting materials used, issue resolution, and time spent on tasks
- Participate in on-call rotation and be available every third Sunday for urgent repairs and facility needs
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electrical and plumbing trades
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and general plumbing codes
- Solid understanding of safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE usage
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet
- Strong communication skills and a customer-service-oriented mindset
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation
- HVAC certification or relevant field experience in HVAC system maintenance is preferred
- OSHA 10/30 certification or equivalent safety training is preferred
- Experience in a commercial or hospitality environment is a plus is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolding, and access tight or elevated areas for extended periods
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials or equipment (up to 75 lbs) regularly
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crawling, standing, and walking throughout the shift
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, including exposure to hot, cold, or inclement weather
- Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, and machinery with precision and care
- Must be able to safely work in environments that may include electrical currents, confined spaces, and mechanical equipment
This is a full-time, hands-on position that requires physical stamina, technical knowledge, and a willingness to respond to facility needs on short notice. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, with participation in an on-call rotation every third Sunday.
