Job Description
Sawyer Home & Garden Center is now seeking a knowledgeable, drive, reliable Nursery Sales Associate for the 2025 season! If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love working outdoors, and enjoy providing excellent customer service - a seasonal position at SGC may be a great fit for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Cheerfully greeting & assisting customers with questions related to trees, shrubs & plants.
- Stock, water and maintain plants, keeping them healthy & visually appealing.
- Share knowledge about plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables, and growing seasons with our loyal customers.
- Share knowledge on our supporting products to our customers to best advise them on how to care for their purchases. Assist customers in selecting products, offering advice on care, placement and maintenance.
- Merchandising with shop ability in mind, grouping similar items together, staying mindful of bloom time and season.
- Unload deliveries, push & pull carts unassisted.
- Ensure all products are accurately priced and up to date.
- Collaborate with team members, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Operate POS system at registers when needed - following SGC procedures.
Requirements
- Must have knowledge of trees & shrubs and how to care for them.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment - completing tasks that are strenuous in nature - standing, lifting, bending, regularly lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted, traversing uneven surfaces, consistently working outdoors and extensive walking.
- Commitment to excellent customer service, showing up each day with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Available Full-Time, on weekends and holidays. Our hours of operations are 9AM-7PM daily.
- Keep nursery paths clean, clear and easy to maneuver - ensuring a safe space for staff and customers.
- Prior retail/sales experience.
- Build a rapport with our loyal customers.

- Strong ability to multitask in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Maintain a sense of urgency while staying comfortable in a fast-paced setting involving many people while keeping up a team oriented personal attitude.
- Adaptable to changing tasks, willing to learn about new plants, products and care techniques.
