POSITION TITLE: PARTS MANAGER
DEPARTMENT: PARTS
REPORTS TO: General Manager
PURPOSE:
The Parts Manager is responsible for running a profitable and efficient parts department. He/she will accomplish objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff utilization, security, pricing, merchandising, displaying, and advertising. The Parts Manager must be an investment advisor and profit producer for the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Forecast goals and objectives for the department.
· Analyze sales, gross expense and inventory to maintain profit goals.
· Work with Service Manager to ensure a timely completion of mechanical work.
· Assist in collection of past due accounts. Help set credit limits for parts creditors.
· Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the parts department.
· Hire, train, motivate, counsel and monitor the performance and compensation levels of staff.
· Provide technical assistance to parts department employees.
· Coordinate and supervise stock order and special-order procedures.
· Conduct meetings with parts department employees to discuss department procedures and performance and develop strategies for a more efficient and profitable operation.
· Assist and maintain a parts matrix and parts menus to increase volume of sales and gross profit.
· Periodically review parts storage layout to maximize the efficiency of the parts operation.
· Develop, enforce, and monitor guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
· Develop a pricing policy for internal wholesale and retail customers that balances sales, gross profit, customer loyalty, and cost of doing business.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
· Establish parts inventory levels and balance the inventory for maximum inventory turnover. Utilize GM RIM (or subsequent GM inventory management systems) to maximize parts flow and availability.
· Periodically develop parts sales promotion to help increase sales.
· Handle customer complaints immediately and according to the dealership guidelines.
· Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence, including performing timely parts return.
· Manage warranty parts returns following manufacturers return guidelines.
· Understand and keep current on federal, state and local regulations that may affect parts sales.
· At least annually, coordinate and complete a parts inventory.
· Conduct annual reviews with department employees.
Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· College degree in business or related field is required
· Ability to read and write and comprehend instructions and information.
· Previous dealership supervisory/managerial experience is required.
· Professional appearance and behavior necessary.
· Excellent communication skills, ability to explain financial information in an understandable manner.
· Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
· Computer skills required including Internet, Excel, Word, and DMS.
· Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Pay: $74,500.00 - $100,000.00 per year
