JOB DESCRIPTION
Objective :
The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), HIR Enterprise Operations and Facilities is seeking one full-time, Senior Systems Engineer to serve on a Server Management and Monitoring team to support System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Windows virtual and physical server administration, and Windows vulnerability management. Individual contractor support is needed to provide windows expertise, operational support, maintenance, monitoring, and tune system performance on windows servers within the House Information Resources.
Background :
The CAO provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 600 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel. Contractor assistance is needed to provide in-depth expertise with windows servers and to provide technical guidance to HIR staff and other contractors. Enterprise Operations & Facilities (EO&F) needs additional contractor support to address our SCCM, SCOM, and windows engineering needs to help the growing demand windows support within the organization.
Scope / Senior Windows Engineer will focus on SCCM, SCOM and Windows engineering to include :
- Configure, build, manage, and maintain windows servers.
- Determine and document windows server performance.
- Document recommended windows troubleshooting process.
- Develop and perform software deployments for the installation of applications using various software development, automation techniques, using SCCM application deployment, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), SCCM Operating System Deployment (OSD), PowerShell, and Visual Basic.
- Develop and document a software deployment workflow.
- Perform direct query-based deployment of patches, Microsoft updates, device drivers, and applications to windows servers on the network using approved automation tools and producing success failure reports for the deployment.
- Review SCCM environment to determine and document features that can be utilized or enhanced.
- Review SCCM environment and demonstrate the ability to implement the following : Package Development, Package Deployment and Control, Monitoring Deployment and Creating Deployment Status Reports.
- Recommend and document SCCM server resources.
- Provide direct end user support for windows issues as needs.
- Communicating day-to-day activities, operational challenges, and provide feedback.
- Subject matter expert on Enterprise class monitoring systems including SCOM.
- Performed upgrades, patching, testing plans, implementation plans and configuration of new and existing technologies.
- Perform administrative tasks from the SCOM console.
- Provide application support for the SCOM platform and create and maintain monitoring and notification rules.
- Administer SquaredUp platform.
- Assist with windows failover capabilities.
- Mitigate windows vulnerability reports.
Candidate Capability Requirements / Experience :
Provide technical expertise and support implementation of SCOM, SCCM, and Windows administration and have a thorough understanding of virtualization technologies using VMware, Windows-based Servers, and server security hardening practices.
Must have experience with SCOM 2016 or higher, SCCM, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft IIS, SQL Server, Patch and Vulnerability identification, evaluation, remediation, and work[1]off / closure of security findings.
Service delivery respond, diagnose, and remediate issues affecting production availability in a dynamic environment.
Maintain environment with current releases of firmware and operating systems levels.
Work with diverse teams to build out and integrate required server infrastructure following the best practices and in accordance with documentation.
Flexibility to work in 24x7 shifts, Candidate should be willing to participate in rotating on-call duties.
Develops and implements engineering / deployment practices for server management.
Installs, configure server management and software deployment solutions utilizing Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
Research current server configurations to provide capacity planning and performance monitoring / tuning of systems. Generate reports and analysis on server disk space and utilization.
Monitors use and availability of server resources using Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).
Maintains security software deployment on server configurations and remediates any detected vulnerabilities.
Troubleshoot server related issues and take appropriate actions.
Maintain and modifies server standard operating procedures to meet business needs. Develop, generate and maintain detailed technical documentation, training manuals, procedures, operating manuals and document implementation or deployment plans.
Evaluate and make recommendations for the selection of server management software and hardware products.
Collaborate in a team environment with 3rd party vendors, clients, project management team, account managers, and engineers to optimally perform job responsibilities.
Must demonstrate willingness and aptitude to continually learn and adapt to dynamic industry product lines and certification requirements.
Candidate must have a high degree of professional expertise and technology experience as well as prior experience overseeing a team of Engineers.
