Job Purpose
The Sr. Windows Server Engineer provides infrastructure support for VMWare virtualized environment that hosts Microsoft Operating System, consisting of 1,100 servers and 5,000 Active Directory Users covering multiple geographic locations. The Sr. Engineer is responsible to maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies; Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability; Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution; Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Manages large scale and / or technically complex projects and is responsible for the design and implementation of new technology initiatives supporting the Microsoft Active Directory and Server Operating System environment.
Researches, evaluates, recommends, implements, and ensures new technology initiatives are stable and readily maintained.
Manages projects within deadlines and provides project status reports to management.
Serves as Level-3 escalation for Windows Server supported applications and hardware.
Develops processes for the day-to-day system administration of Windows Server environments including Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard / Enterprise, Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard / Enterprise, Windows Server 2016 / 2019, Windows 2013 / 2016 SharePoint
Actively pursues opportunities to improve and automate team procedures and systems performances.
Data mining, ability to interconnect systems and interconnect disparate applications for data normalizations and automations.
Analyzes performance of the environment and provide recommendations for improvement.
Utilizes PowerShell to manage and build the environment and provide automation when possible.
Acts as a representative of the Windows Server team & PGDS on cross functional project teams.
Provides leadership and mentoring to junior staff in technical, customer and project management skills.
Other duties
Participates in 24-hour On-Call rotation.

Active Directory (Domain Services, GPO, security, etc.)
Core Infrastructure Systems (Windows / VMware), Virtualization / Hypervisor
Internal Certificate Authority
Azure AD including AD Connect server systems (SSO)
Network Policy Services (NPS)
Incudes wireless SSL.
File & Print Server Management
Key Management Service (KMS)
Perform Physical Server Management such as, Firmware upgrade, Coordinate with Vendor for any hardware failure, maintain warranty of the hardware and roadmap, provide general for the operating system that are hosted in the physical servers.
Server Deployment
Build, scale, and secure corporate infrastructure, focusing specifically on virtual and cloud environments.
Active participation in Shift Handover call and provide updates on pending tickets for the next shift
Work in a heterogeneous environment containing diverse operating systems and applications.
Find ways to leverage the scale and complexity of the larger infrastructure to solve problems for Enterprise customers.
Final escalation points for issues related to Windows server and virtualization systems.
Produce systems that are scalable, automated, and well-documented, and train others to take on day-2 operations.
Designs, develops, and implements server systems and software applications such as Active Directory, NPS, etc.
Configuring new DHCP servers, migration of DHCP scopes and decommission of DHCP. Servers Active Directory promotion and demotion tasks
AD role management, migration, and DNS management
Create technical design specifications with respective enterprise server technology such as Windows, VMware, and Active Directory.
Remains current with industry trends to conceive, prototype and recommend technical approaches for IT systems and solutions that meet business needs.
Performance troubleshooting, tuning and Root Cause Analysis of Windows OS issues (slowness issues, analyzing crash dumps, event analysis etc.)
Implement defined security standards and provide infrastructure data related to security incidents and investigations.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
6 - 8 years' experience providing support in a multi-server enterprise environment consisting of 600 servers and 2,000 users in multiple geographic locations.
Experience in Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel, and Visio.
