Wine Harvest Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Wine Harvest Specialist to join our team at Saxum Vineyards. As a key member of our harvest crew, you will be responsible for assisting with vinification tasks during the harvest season. This is a temporary position that will end when harvest activities come to a close.

Work Schedule:
5-6 days a week (must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays)
The standard work hours will vary.

Responsibilities:

• Cleaning all winery equipment and facilities
• Pump overs and punch downs (lots of punch downs)
• Draining, shoveling and pressing of tanks
• Racking and pumping of juice and wine; moving hoses and equipment
• Filling, topping, and racking barrels
• Operating crusher, presses
• Assist full time crew with receiving fruit, sorting, and crushing/destemming
• Updating, following, and observing all safe cellar practices
• Other duties as assigned by winemaker

Requirements:

• Available to work every Saturday and Sunday from mid September – November
• Previous cellar experience (preferably during a harvest season)
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Requires frequent standing, stooping, and bending
• Work in warm and cold climates
• Comfortable working in high places
• Work on wet surfaces
• Physical stamina to endure multiple long days during the harvest season
• Take appropriate initiative and be willing to ask questions before completing tasks
• Must be punctual and reliable
• Ability to comfortably hang out with co-workers during down times
• Exhibit respect, helpfulness, a positive attitude, and caution at all times
• Must be someone who pays close attention to detail when handling a luxury wine brand
• Must carefully handle all winery equipment to prevent unnecessary breakage
