Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Harvest Cellar Assistant to join our team at Saxum Vineyards.
About the Role
This is a temporary, seasonal position that will commence in September and conclude when harvest activities come to an end. As a member of our cellar team, you will be responsible for assisting with vinification tasks during the harvest season.
Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and maintaining all winery equipment and facilities
- Participating in pump overs and punch downs
- Draining, shoveling, and pressing of tanks
- Racking and pumping of juice and wine; moving hoses and equipment
- Filling, topping, and racking barrels
- Operating crusher and presses
- Assisting the full-time crew with receiving fruit, sorting, and crushing/destemming
- Maintaining safe cellar practices and adhering to company policies
Requirements
- Available to work every Saturday and Sunday from mid-September to November
- Previous cellar experience (preferably during a harvest season)
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working in high places and on wet surfaces
- Physical stamina to endure multiple long days during the harvest season
