Project Manager Assistant – Construction & Design
Location: Tacoma, WA
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 per year
Saybr Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager Assistant to provide construction project management and design support for various retail and energy construction projects. This position will work closely with a Senior Estimator and Project Manager, assisting in both bid development and project execution.
This role is intended to develop into a Project Manager position through ongoing training and hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bid Development Support: Assist in the preparation of competitive bids, including disseminating plans and specifications, obtaining and organizing subcontractor quotes, and ensuring bid compliance.
- Project Management Assistance:
- Accurately complete project start-up documentation.
- Coordinate with the Project Superintendent to develop and maintain project schedules.
- Collect and organize material submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Issue and track subcontracts, purchase orders, and related documentation, including invoicing.
- Organize and maintain project records to ensure accessibility and accuracy.
- Assemble and submit project cost documentation for client invoicing.
- Compile and organize close-out packages at project completion.
- Design & Drafting Support:
- Prepare detailed design drawings for design/build projects, including site layouts, utility plans, and construction details.
- Develop and maintain AutoCAD drawing files, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
- Coordinate with external design consultants, engineers, and permitting agencies to ensure project compliance.
- Assist in reviewing design documents, identifying potential conflicts or constructability issues.
- Support the permitting process by preparing necessary documentation and coordinating with regulatory agencies.
- Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings at project completion.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- General knowledge of the commercial construction industry and understanding of common terminology.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating and modifying construction and site development drawings.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible construction and/or design experience, including two years of experience in project document coordination.
- Ability to read blueprints and construction specifications.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software (Revit, Civil 3D, or similar) is preferred but not required.
- Understanding of building codes, permitting processes, and regulatory requirements related to construction projects.
- Strong organizational skills and a focus on continual process improvement.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with project personnel, clients, subcontractors, and third-party representatives.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other company communication tools.
- BIM/CAD or other 3D modeling experience is a plus.
