The Saydel Community School District is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and skilled 7–12 Choir Director & 5-6 General Music Teacher to lead and grow our vocal music program at both Woodside Middle School and Saydel High School for the 2025–2026 school year. This is a full-time position serving students in grades 5 through 12, with opportunities to collaborate closely with fellow music educators and administrators in a supportive and innovative learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement engaging vocal music curriculum for grades 5–12
Direct and rehearse middle school and high school choirs, including curricular and extracurricular ensembles
Organize and conduct concerts, contests, and performances throughout the year
Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
Collaborate with school staff and community members to support music advocacy and student success
Provide individualized instruction and vocal coaching to support student growth and development
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field required
Valid Iowa teaching license with appropriate music endorsement (K–12 or 5–12)
Demonstrated success in choral direction and classroom instruction
Strong piano and vocal skills preferred
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
Preferred Skills:
Experience working with diverse student populations
Knowledge of current best practices in music education and performance
Ability to incorporate technology and innovative teaching strategies
Passion for building student confidence, skill, and love for music
