SUMMARY: The merrow machine operator is responsible for operating a single-head merrow machine to sew a merrowed border around patches as part of the production process.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Ability to draw thread through guides, tensions, and needles and adjust tensions, threads, and bobbins according to fabric type.
- Ability to center material to prepare for processing on sewing machine.
- Ability to observe sewing operations to detect defects in stitching that indicate machine malfunction and notify supervisor of malfunction.
- Must be dependable and self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision and communicate well with supervisor and team leaders.
- Ability to maintain speed and efficiency and be fully committed to excellent customer service.
- Ability to maintain department production demand numbers.
- Ability to accurately count and follow written or verbal directions.
- Pay attention to the quality of both the starting product and the finished product.
- Continually utilize visual awareness to operate equipment, read information, and have discernment for colors and detail.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Continually required to sit (8-10 hours per day and up to 4 hours overtime as needed)
- Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
- Continually required to talk, hear and visually see and focus on items during production process, including but not limited to color, peripheral and depth perception and adjust focus.
- Must be able to lift or move up to 30lbs.
