Director of Nursing (DON) – Sayre Health Care Center
Location: Sayre, PA
Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 per year

Sayre Health Care Center is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing team and ensure the highest quality of care for our residents. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the nursing department and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations
  • Develop and implement policies to enhance patient care and operational efficiency
  • Provide leadership, training, and support to nursing staff

  • Monitor staffing, budgets, and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in the state of Pennsylvania (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of nursing leadership experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Job Overview
The Director of Nursing (DON) plays a crucial role in overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. This leadership position is responsible for managing nursing operations, developing policies, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The DON will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes and maintain a safe and effective care environment.

Duties

  • Lead and supervise nursing staff, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Oversee patient care activities, ensuring adherence to best practices in acute care, assisted living, home health, and home care settings.
  • Conduct regular documentation reviews to maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure accurate patient records.
  • Manage the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments to ensure appropriate care planning for residents.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Monitor quality assurance programs and implement improvements based on findings.
  • Provide training and mentorship to nursing staff, fostering professional development and enhancing leadership skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of acute care practices, physiology, and healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance.
  • Experience in supervising nursing staff within assisted living or home health environments.
