Job Description / Responsibilities : Operations Manager - TGD
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading operations in the bottling, materials, and processing departments. This person will create a culture of that values teamwork and winning throughout The Glenmore Distillery. The direct impact will be the improvement of safety, food safety, quality, efficiency, and service through the implementation of rigorous standards and focused problem solving. Additionally, the operations manager will help lead development of individuals across the site.
- Meet and exceed customer service by consistently meeting schedule adherence targets and driving efficiency improvements throughout the operation. Ensure that world class food safety and quality systems are in place. Focus on improving operations performance to deliver against SOAR and OTIF targets. Work with marketing, R&D, and procurement to quickly and cost effectively bring new products to market.
- Take a lead role in safety across the entire Glenmore site. Monitor and enforce all OSHA and Company safety regulations and policies. Lead the processing, materials, and bottling departments through the rollout and improvement of safety programs, safety policies, and safety improvements. Continually strive towards achieving zero accidents.
- Lead bottling operations to accomplish production requirements within guidelines for safety, quality, budgetary, service and regulation which meet plant goals. Plan and implement operational improvements working with supervisors and employees on joint problem solving techniques. Drive production efficiency and costs; plans and organizes, directs improvements utilizing corrective action techniques. Establish best in class methods which drive established efficiency and quality goals. Ensure department employees adhere to all Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Practices.
- Conducts PDS reviews with Direct Reports on identified competencies. Ensure system correctly reflects performance & development needs. Implement PDS for myself that will move me towards improving at least one competency per year, and improve performance against position description outcomes.
- Lead department continuous improvement efforts driving production efficiency and cost improvements. Track efficiencies, quality and production data to improve yields and reduce losses. Leader of department operating and CAPEX plans to reduce costs without sacrificing quality or safety. Prepare and manage annual and longer term operating plans to reduce costs without sacrificing quality. Consult with operations team on all current processes regarding sending product out of plant, scheduling bottling and insuring shipping has all product needed for orders to evaluate cost savings opportunities. Ensures TGD meets or exceeds cost per 9L targets
- Establish and follow development plan to achieve career development and / or advancement. Responsible for developing department team, and works with all managers across the site to develop skills and results around continuous improvement.
- Lead processing, bottling, and materials in a manner required to develop a high performance team based culture across TGD and consistent with the culture of the company . Ensure employees are treated fairly and with respect. Create a team environment where all employees are encouraged to make a difference in meeting and exceeding customer expectations. Create an environment that supports productive and positive employee relations while maintaining compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Drive department to achieve a Best in Class operation through the implementation of rigorous standards and processes. Plan, organize and direct improvements and corrective action plans. Implement structured data collection and analysis program. Work with the TGD management team to successfully implement new initiatives. Lead the utilization of structured problem solving to identify the root causes of issues and put in place standards and processes to ensure sustainability.
- Continually seek ways to improve performance as measured by departmental Key Performance Indicators. Develop supervisors to build KPIs which drive accountability around desired performance and behaviors.
