Located in the heart of Mandalay Bay, Citizens Kitchen & Bar features a creative and contemporary take on American food.

The menu features a broad range of signature favorites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Citizens also offers a vast selection of beers as well as a full-service bar to complement the decadent fare. The approachable menu, lively music and comfortable atmosphere are poised to satisfy the tastes of any and all guests.

Position Summary:

Host/Hostess responsibilities include greeting guests, providing accurate wait times and escorting customers to the dining and bar areas. For this role, you should have solid organizational and people skills to make sure our guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive till their departure.

Host/Hostess Functions:

Competencies / Skills:

  • Ability to work positively in a fast-paced environment and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Solid understanding and application of federal, state, and local food sanitation regulations.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs, data entry, and point of sale systems
  • Basic math and recording abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork.
  • Must be observant and quick to respond to various situations and requests while also multitasking and handling stressful situations.
  • Previous hospitality and/or food service experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be reliable and have flexibility for scheduling.

Work Authorization:
Must be able to provide documentation that shows you are authorized to work in the United States. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

Education / Experience / Credentials:
Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in kitchen or service focused environment. It is the employee's responsibility to secure and maintain status of all required certificates, licenses, or registrations when required by local, state, or federal government agencies. ANSI approved Food Handler Card and Responsible Beverage Service certificate recognized by the ABC (if applicable).

Language:
Must have the ability to speak, read, write, and interpret business documents in the English language. Multi-lingual skills are a plus.

Travel:
Must have access to reliable transportation locally, as this position requires presence at the venue and is not a remote position.

COVID-19 Precautions:
This position will be based at the venue and not remote. Personal protective equipment is always required, as well as following social distancing guidelines, and health and safety measures of hand sanitizing and cleaning procedures. All CDC and LA Department of Public Health mandates are followed.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable people with a disability to perform the described essential functions where possible.

  • Must be able to stand or walk a minimum of eight (8) hours.
  • Must be able to twist, tow (push or pull), reach, bend climb and carry objects as necessary.
  • Ability to kneel, reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and lift at least 35lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace and high-volume environment in the presence of areas containing secondhand smoke, high noise levels, dancing, bright lights, and dust and communicate during this time – sometimes within a small area.
  • Must be able to work inside and outside at all times of the year as needed, based upon business volumes.

Work Environment:
Candidates understand that the business concept is based on a hospitality and lifestyle brand, which includes the service of food and alcoholic beverages. Candidates acknowledge and understand that accepting employment with the Company, requires presence at a venue, which may include exposure to the following: smoke from cigarettes and cigars outside venue; loud music and other sounds; individuals under the influence of alcohol.
