Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the CFO, the VP Controller will lead the Accounting function, including the compliance and maintenance of US GAAP accounting principles, practices, and procedures. They will direct and plan the delivery of timely and accurate fiscal records and financial reports that summarize company’s business activity and financial position.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage financial reporting. Prepare monthly and annual reporting and analysis packages, including comparative reports (actual, budget, forecast) of US GAAP operating results and financial position. This includes the consolidation of Canadian and other foreign subsidiaries.
- Prepare monthly and annual debt covenant packages for lenders.
- Work with the CFO and FPA in presenting reports and analyses to executives and stakeholders.
- Manage the monthly close process such that the Company is on a pathway to constant improvement in terms of quality and speed of close. Ensure monthly reconciliations, loan schedules and bank reconciliations are reviewed.
- Lead the Accounting consolidation and integration of 3 prior companies into one set of financials for one fully integrated overall business.
- Lead a department of 25 members including:
- Cash management/treasury functions, including day to day banking operations, cash transactions and reporting
- Accounts receivable management and collection including customer chargebacks and related operational drivers
- Accounts payable oversight and management – controls, processes, disbursements
- Inventory control oversight and management including controls, costing, completeness, valuation reserves
- Royalties oversight and management
- Motivate and lead Accounting team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback. Foster a working environment to stimulate open communication, teamwork and sharing of best practices. Train, monitor and guide the team, always pushing for stellar performance and professional output.
- Lead the Accounting department to transition from 2 ERP systems to 1 future ERP system (Netsuite). This includes consolidation and rationalization of the COA, Customer and Vendor files.
- Suggest updates and improvements for all components/aspects of current and future accounting systems
- Manage all audits coordination with external auditors. This includes annual audits as well as audits required for debt compliance and insurance.
- Manage annual insurance renewals, working with the CFO and external insurance broker(s), to assess the company’s risk management program. Monitor and negotiate with broker(s) all key insurance policies. Manage claims as incurred.
- Focus on cost structure. Identify and implement potential cost savings and synergies across the business.
- Strong track record of successful mentoring of team members. A consensus leader who is comfortable with multiple points of view yet can effectively lead a group to the best business decision.

- Ability to see the big picture while focusing on the process/procedures necessary to produce deliverables;

- BS in Accounting or equivalent degree plus 10 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of five years in senior roles, i.e., Controller at a company of at least $150M in revenue.
- CPA is required. 3 years of Public Accounting experience preferred;
- Must have experience in Retail, CPG &/or E-commerce.
- Experience in working for Private Equity backed companies
- Experience redesigning Accounting functions and teams for effectiveness
- Experience implementing ERP systems
- Experience with organizing the accounting function and accounting related to mergers and acquisitions;
- Experience with International consolidation, foreign exchange and transfer pricing preferred.
Salary : $230,000 - $270,000
