What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Custodian & Bus Driver position at SBPS Maintenance & Custodial?
Suttons Bay Public Schools is seeking a full-time, year-round Custodian & Bus Driver to join our team. This dual-role position requires a hard-working, self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and the community. Training will be provided, and the district will cover the cost of obtaining a CDL license with required endorsements.
Custodian Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning (dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restocking supplies, etc.).
- Maintain custodial equipment and supplies.
- Empty trash and ensure proper disposal.
- Secure school facilities after cleaning.
- Report maintenance needs and concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Bus Driver Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and address maintenance concerns.
- Fuel and clean the bus as needed.
- Assist students with seating, assistive devices, and safety concerns.
- Provide direction to bus aides and manage student behavior.
- Communicate with teachers, families, and students.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check and MDE physical (annually).
- Must obtain a CDL with B, P, and S classification and Air Brake endorsements (district covers cost).
- Must meet Michigan Department of Education and DOT requirements for driving performance and drug/alcohol testing.
Position Details:
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM
