What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at SBS Acquisition Company LLC?
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician who will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. They will troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness while advising and training other production personnel. All tasks will be performed while supporting the company's policies, goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBLITIES
- Participate in plant safety, health and environmental programs.
- Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned.
- Maintain spare part inventory controls for cost-effective operations.
- Assist with successful audits in the area of maintenance.
- Implement and coordinate maintenance plans together with the production department.
- Repair & maintain plant machinery and equipment (mixers, conveyors, compressors, and pumps).
- Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, etc. as needed.
- Repair or replace faulty components, including motors, bearings, belts, and gears.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform repairs
- Perform work order repairs, inspections and adjustments.
- Check facilities and machines at regular intervals.
- Implement corrective measures (quality review) concerning quality improvement.
- Keep the maintenance shop clean and orderly.
- Update maintenance logs and provide reports as needed to the Maintenance Supervisor or Plant Manager
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Strong mechanical skills that inspire team confidence, collaboration and respect.
- Excellent critical thinking skills utilizing a Stabilize/Standarize/Optimize problem-solving and root-cause analysis approach.
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to build and maintain good working relationships with others within the organization, suppliers, and customers.

Experience
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Previous experience in food processing experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with food processing environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of proper sanitation techniques and procedures.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Knowledge with electrical, electronics, 3-phase and carpentry preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Bilingual (English - Spanish) preferred.
Additional Information:
- Ability to work in a warehouse setting that includes refrigeration (38F) and wet conditions.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, climbing, and lifting up to 40 pounds.

Environment:
This position works in a combination of plant and warehouse settings, working in various temperature conditions, and long periods of standing and/or walking.
