Job Details
Title: Storage Admin
Location:2-3 DAYS ONSITE IN BOSTON, MA
The Storage Administrator is responsible for management of all centralized and distributed storage technologies. This technology includes the various NAS environments, storage networks, DAS environments and all other technologies classified as a storage technology. Additional responsibilities include:
- Management of Storage/SAN environments. EMC Unisphere experience preferred.
- Management of Tools used for disaster recovery. (Recoverpoint / SRM / Other)
- Administer Brocade FC switches
- Execute FC zoning for development and production storage volumes
- Manage storage allocation, space, and replication strategies
- Analyze and resolve problems related to storage systems and network storage solutions
- Provide architecture as well as performance recommendations to DBAs and Ops.
- Troubleshoot and restore complex storage problems across the enterprise related to replication strategies and storage strategies across wide area networks
- Provide recommendations on storage upgrades and supports project integration as required
- Server and Storage capacity planning and management
- Install, operate and maintain network and storage appliances
- Recover data when required
- Execute cross-site replication of significant DR data.
- Supervise volume replication jobs and execute improvements.
- Conduct bottleneck evaluation to identify performance issues.
- Develop and maintain records for entire storage as well as FC systems.
- Management of virtual environments (VMware)
- Management of Active Directory
- Operating systems troubleshooting and configuration for both Microsoft and VMware
- Install patches and perform system updates
- Participate in rotation for afterhours support.
The Storage Administrator must be able to manage services from the planning phase through the implementation and management phases. He or she will interface with other team members, management, and end-users on a regular basis. After hours availability is required in order to respond to emergencies, and to perform system maintenance that cannot be completed during normal business hours.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS or equivalent experience
- Minimum of ten years' experience supporting the following is preferred:
- EMC VNX/Unity Storage systems
- Replication technologies, such as Recoverpoint and newer hypervisor based solutions like Veeam
- Active Directory
- vSphere / vCenter / ESXi configuration, administration and troubleshotting
- FC switches and SANs
- Ability to automate processes through the effective application of scripts (PowerShell, Pearl, VBS)
- Microsoft/VMware certifications preferred
- ITIL certification preferred
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while prioritizing and delivering results on time.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have strong analytical skills
- Ability to think strategically with technical vision
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
