Billing Manager

Expanding St. Louis Defense law firm is seeking a dedicated Billing & Accounting Manager to lead the accounting department and oversee all financial operations. This pivotal role combines technical accounting proficiency with strong leadership in a dynamic legal setting. Work Environment: Full-Time position, Onsite (8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday)

Core Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of the firm's accounting operations, including AP/AR, billing, collections, and financial reporting.
• Oversee trust accounting and IOLTA compliance.
• Process attorney time entries and handle client billing requirements.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage cash flow and banking relationships.
• Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and maintain internal controls.
• Coordinate with partners on financial planning and budgeting.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Required Qualifications:

• 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in law firm accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and law firm accounting principles, with proven experience in legal billing software and trust accounting.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Accounting software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA Certification
• Experience with one or more legal practice management software: PCLaw, Tab3, CounselLink (Enterprise Legal Management Software – ELM), Legal Exchange, Paychex or Paylocity.
• Knowledge of Missouri/Illinois legal billing requirements.
